Business acting responsibly – and raising the bar year on year

Now in its second year, The Chamber’s corporate social responsibility scheme, was proud to host the annual awards evening to celebrate all of the businesses who have recorded and benchmarked the activities they have undertaken in the four key areas of community, education, economy and the Environment.

The evening was held at the White Cloth Gallery in Leeds and saw Stephen Waud, Fund Director, Business Enterprise Fund present certificates to the 2014 users and Craig McHugh, Director, One in a Million present trophies to the winners in the four key areas.

  • 1480 volunteers from the business community came together to support community-based fundraising activities
  • 1 employee shaved his head for charity
  • 3000 science dictionaries donated to Primary and secondary schools in the area
  • 600 selection boxes for children and over 100 hampers for the elderly  were donated
  • 89% of the business who completed the survey offer work experience for young people
  • 1 motor vehicle maintenance training centre opened
  • £57,931 monetary donations and £53,530 of donated resources to educational establishments in 2014
  • Countless efforts to improve the visual environment within and around where the businesses operate
  • 21,000 properties have now had walls and lofts insulated
